If you do wish to use msconfig, it may be accessed this way: Start Run type "msconfig" without the quotation marks Enter or OK 4. The Total figure represents the amount of memory you are using at that very moment. The Peak figure represents the highest amount of memory you used since last bootup.

How much of it is in use? What programs including background programs do you have running? Receiving messages that computer does not have enough physical memory, slow loading of programs or programs will not run at all, cannot add programs.
There are various things you can do to free some of it, but they are all temporary, and you will soon find yourself back in the same situation. There's only one thing you can do to really relieve that situation: replace you drive with a much larger one. I never recommend anything smaller than GB, and 1TB or even more is better.
