Restore doesn't help and I ain't about to remove and reinstall my security program because thousands of complaints about this very thing all over the web are not being solved by anything anybody does, except maybe what the MS-MVP says: Use something else and hope for better days.

Symptoms often don't surface until several months have gone by, or until an update occurs. First, be sure to disable its email scanning. I am trying to make Windows Mail work firsttime after many months of owning the new Vista-PC and after reliably using outlook on Windows for about 10 years - which is outdated now.

This is the third thread you've started on the same issue. Please start only one thread per issue. I use Windows Live Mail. This problem usually happens when starting Windows Mail. Many users have encountered it but the way they fixed it varies from one another. If you are using Microsoft Windows Vista, try this.

Note: User Account Control can be annoying but disabling it will bring you a less secure system. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

After booting, create a new user account then restart the computer in Safe mode. To restart in Safe mode, restart your computer normally then press F8 before the Windows logo appears. After logging in, restart your computer normally then log in back to the user account you just created.

Try launching Windows Mail then complete the configuration. See if this works. Make sure Windows Mail is not running or close it if it is running. After this, start Windows Mail and see if it works.
