That verifies your observations. Marked as answer by Jahedur. Rahman Thursday, August 19, AM. Wednesday, August 18, PM. Is DetectNewerInstalledVersion set to true? When you change the version are you keeping the same UpgradeCode but allowing a change to the ProductCode? Thursday, August 5, PM. Thanks Ken for your reply I'm stumped then. If the original installed correctly and the new one would install correctly also if not an update then those properties set in the setup project should be enough.
They are in every setup I've made. Are you sure the setup project is deploying everything needed? UpgradeCode is a misleading name in my opinion. You keep that the same as long as you want to produce upgrades to your current addin. If it is changed COM regards that as a new addin. For upgrades you keep UpgradeCode the same, change ProductCode. That is done automatically for you if you allow it when you change the Version property of the setup, which should match your setting in the assembly info and any manifest file also.
Friday, August 6, AM. Are you actually running post build events? Friday, August 6, PM. Saturday, August 7, AM. You're just registering the addin in HKLM? Did you also set for all users in the installer UI settings? Saturday, August 7, PM. Thanks for the information on RunPostBuildEvent property. Thanks again Edited by Jahedur.
Rahman Monday, August 9, AM. Sunday, August 8, AM. It sounds like you're doing everything correctly. The addin is originally being installed by running the msi or setup. I can't really think of anything else.
Sunday, August 8, PM. Do you have any idea on this? Monday, August 9, AM. Monday, August 9, PM. All projects are set in debug mode.
Is this the problem?
